01 Oct 2016 - 22 Jan 2017
MoMA, 11 West 53 Street, New York
New York´s Museum of Modern Art presents, from 1 October 2016 to 22 January 2017, Insecurities: Tracing Displacement and Shelter an exhibition about the ways in which contemporary architecture and design have addressed notions of shelter in light of global refugee emergencies.
Insecurities brings together a range of projects and objects by architects, designers, and artists, working in a range of mediums and scales, that respond to the complex circumstances brought about by forced displacement. The exhibition includes IKEA Foundation-UNHCR Better Shelter, along with works by Shigeru Ban, Teddy Cruz, Suricatta Systems, Henk Wildschut, Nader Khalili y Tiffany Chung, among others. The exhibition raises questions regarding how the design and representation of shelter as a source of security and stability ultimately reflects how refugees are living in permanent upheaval today.
